An honest look at your options
There are four common ways to stop missing calls. Each one suits a different business. This page describes categories, not companies, and says where another choice is the better one.
Three alternatives, fairly described
Human answering services
A team of people answers your calls from a script and passes on messages.
What it does well
- A person on every call, which some callers prefer
- Judgment in situations nobody wrote a script for
- Nothing for you to configure beyond the script
What to check
- Usually priced per minute with a small monthly allowance, so busy months cost more
- The operator handles many businesses and works from the notes you provide
- Message quality depends on who picks up
Choose this when a human voice on every call matters more to you than cost, or when your calls need judgment that cannot be written down.
Generic AI receptionists
An AI voice assistant set up from a prompt or a short form, built for any kind of business.
What it does well
- Quick to switch on
- Often the lowest monthly price
- Fine for hours, directions, and simple messages
What to check
- Check how it decides that a call is an emergency, and whether that is a fixed rule
- Check what it does with an abusive caller, and whether it can end a call during an emergency
- Check where its prices come from when a caller asks
Choose this when your calls are simple, nothing a caller says could be a safety issue, and price is the main factor.
All-in-one CRM suites
A large platform that combines CRM, marketing, scheduling, invoicing, and sometimes a phone assistant.
What it does well
- One login for many parts of the business
- Scheduling and invoicing are often included
- Established integrations
What to check
- More to set up and more to learn
- Call answering is one feature among many
- You may pay for modules you do not use
Choose this when you want to run scheduling, invoicing, and marketing in one system and have the time to set it up.
Ringhero
Where we fit
Built for businesses where some calls are urgent and most are not, and where the difference matters.
Emergency detection is a fixed rule
Triggers such as a gas smell or flooding are checked on every call, the safety line comes first, and when it is unsure it escalates.
Built from templates for your trade
Reasons for calling, required details, and emergency triggers are set for trades, property management, and front desks.
Prices only come from you
It states the ranges in your profile and documents. Otherwise it says the team will confirm.
Priced by the minute
Plans from $29 per month in CAD, each with a 14-day free trial, and $0.25 per extra minute. No per-seat fees.
Inbound only
It answers calls. It does not place them.
A person can set it up for you
Solve Trend offers done-for-you packages with call reviews and tuning.

What we do not do
Better that you read it here than find out later.
- It does not book into a calendar yet. It captures the preferred window and your team confirms. On the roadmap.
- It answers in English. Bilingual English and French is on the roadmap.
- Integrations with outside CRMs and job software are on the roadmap.
- It is not a person. Some callers will always prefer one, which is why it offers a transfer or a callback.
- It is not an emergency service.
Before you choose
What should I ask any provider before I sign up?
Ask how an emergency is detected, what the caller hears, and who gets alerted. Ask where quoted prices come from. Ask what happens when you run out of minutes. Ask whether callers are told they are talking to an AI.
Why are no competitors named on this page?
Products and prices change, and we would rather describe the categories fairly than make claims about a specific company that may be out of date.
Can I use this with an answering service or a CRM I already have?
Yes for call forwarding: you decide when calls come to the receptionist. Summaries arrive by text and email, which work alongside any tool. Direct integrations are on the roadmap.
Judge it on your own calls
Upload your price list to the demo and talk to it in under a minute, or set up Ringhero in about 15 minutes and call your own number.
